Client Brief:
Our client in Oxford desired a modern, elegant upgrade to their existing open fireplace. The original feature had no hearths or formal framing, and they wanted a clean, contemporary look with the warmth and convenience of a gas fireplace.
This project features our 48″ Beckford fireplace surround with matching hearths and 4 piece slip set. The gas fire is a Eclipse 60HL Conventional flue gas fire made by Onyx.
Project Challenges:
- The existing fireplace was an open design without a hearth, mantle, or surround.
- The chimney had to accommodate a conventional flue system suitable for a gas installation.
- The installation had to be safely installed and suitably vented with distance to combustible in mind because of the introduction of wooden cabinets nearby.
- The client requested a high end, visually striking finish that would complement their interior.

Our full in-house Gas Safe registered installation team managed the project from start to finish:
- Demolition & Preparation: The original open fireplace was carefully removed, and the existing chimney was assessed and prepared for the new flue system.
- Flue Installation: A conventional flue system was installed within the existing chimney to ensure safe and efficient operation of the gas fireplace.
- Fireplace Installation: A modern square inset gas fireplace was installed, providing a sleek and contemporary focal point.
- Surround & Finishing Touches: The fireplace was framed with a bespoke limestone surround, chosen for its natural beauty and timeless appeal. A matching hearth was added to complete the installation.
