Di Lusso Contemporary Wood Burning Stoves
Di Lusso is part of the Hunter Stoves Group and takes a different approach to conventional stove design. The collection combines large viewing windows and clean contemporary styling with Dynamic Control technology, allowing the fire to operate effectively across a broad heat-output range.
The range can also be specified in very different formats: flush-fitting inset fires, freestanding Euro stoves and statement Cube models.
This means choosing Di Lusso is not simply about selecting the highest kW figure. First decide how the appliance should sit within the room, then choose the R4, R5 or R6 firebox that suits the heating requirement.
R4, R5 or R6?
| Model | Nominal Output | Best Suited To |
|---|---|---|
| R4 | Approx. 4.9kW | Typical living rooms and lower heat requirements |
| R5 | Approx. 6.3kW | Medium-sized rooms requiring greater heat |
| R6 | Approx. 6.2kW | Wider fireplace features and larger contemporary installations |
The nominal output provides the best starting point for comparing the appliances, but Di Lusso models are notable for their wider operating ranges.
The current R4 Euro, for example, has a nominal output of approximately 4.9kW and an operating range of around 2–6kW. The R5 and R6 models can operate across considerably broader ranges when the installation and fuel conditions permit.
What Is Di Lusso Dynamic Control?
Dynamic Control is one of the defining technologies within the Di Lusso range.
Rather than relying on a very narrow operating window, the combustion air can be controlled to allow the fire to respond to changing heating requirements.
This is particularly useful during autumn and spring, when you may want the appearance of a real wood fire without operating continuously at maximum output.
It does not remove the need to size the stove correctly. An R6 is still not the right choice for a very small room simply because its output can be reduced.
Di Lusso Inset Stoves
The R4, R5 and R6 Eco Inset models are designed to sit within the fireplace rather than standing prominently in front of it.
This creates a clean, integrated appearance and can preserve more usable floor space than a conventional freestanding stove.
The current R5 Eco Inset has a nominal output of approximately 6.3kW, efficiency around 81% and an operating range of approximately 3–13kW.
Frame options allow the appliance to suit different openings, with three-sided and four-sided formats available on selected models.
R6 Slimline – Less Installation Depth
The R6 Eco Slimline provides the same approximately 6.2kW nominal output as the standard R6 while reducing the appliance depth.
This makes it particularly useful where a wide contemporary fire is wanted but the fireplace or chimney breast cannot accommodate the depth of the standard model.
The difference is therefore primarily about fitting the appliance into the available structure rather than changing the desired heating output.
Di Lusso Euro – Freestanding Contemporary Stoves
The R4 Euro and R5 Euro take Di Lusso’s combustion technology and place it within a freestanding stove format.
A raised body and integrated log-store base give the fire greater presence within the room while maintaining the large rectangular viewing window associated with the range.
Customers can also choose different side-panel finishes, including flat or curved black panels and selected stainless-steel options.
The R4 Euro is particularly relevant to UK homes because its 4.9kW nominal output sits just below the commonly requested 5kW level.
Di Lusso Cube
The R6 Cube Eco creates a more architectural fireplace feature.
It uses a wider freestanding firebox and can be combined with different styling options, including the current Arco and Quatro formats.
The R6 Cube produces approximately 6.2kW nominal output, with an operating range of roughly 4–13kW and efficiency around 77%.
It is therefore better suited to rooms that genuinely require more heat than the R4 rather than being selected purely because of its larger visual scale.
Flame Blade, Cleanburn & Airwash
Selected Di Lusso models incorporate several combustion technologies working together.
- Flame Blade technology introduces additional combustion air to help burn gases more completely.
- Cleanburn supports cleaner and more efficient combustion.
- Airwash directs air across the inside of the glass to help maintain the large flame view.
- Direct-air capability is available on current models using the appropriate kit.
Wood Burning or Multi-Fuel?
Current Di Lusso appliances are primarily supplied as wood-burning fires, with multi-fuel conversion kits available for selected models.
This allows suitable authorised smokeless fuel to be used where the appliance has been correctly converted and the manufacturer’s fuel requirements are followed.
If you only intend to burn seasoned wood, there is normally little reason to add multi-fuel capability unnecessarily.
Ecodesign & Smoke Control Areas
Hunter Stoves states that all current Di Lusso stoves are Ecodesign compliant. Current Eco models also include Smoke Control Exempt versions suitable for burning specified fuels in UK Smoke Control Areas.
Always check the exact appliance configuration before ordering, particularly where an additional kit or specific configuration is required.
Choosing Between Inset, Euro & Cube
For the cleanest integrated appearance, choose an Inset model.
For a more recognisable freestanding stove with raised flame position and log storage, consider the Euro.
For a broader architectural feature with greater visual presence, the Cube is the strongest option.
Once the format is decided, the R4, R5 or R6 output should be checked against the actual room heat requirement.

Di Lusso is part of the Hunter Stoves Group, which also manufactures Hunter, Parkray and associated stove ranges.
What is Di Lusso Dynamic Control?
Dynamic Control manages combustion airflow to allow Di Lusso fires to operate effectively across a broader output range than a simple fixed-output comparison might suggest.
What is the difference between Di Lusso Inset and Euro models?
Inset models fit into the fireplace for a flush integrated appearance, while Euro models are freestanding and use a raised body with an integrated log-store base.
Which Di Lusso stove is around 5kW?
The R4 Euro has a nominal heat output of approximately 4.9kW and an operating range of around 2–6kW.
Can Di Lusso stoves burn smokeless fuel?
