Barbas Stoves

Premium Dutch Barbas Stoves & Fireplaces

Barbas produces premium wood burning stoves, inset wood fires and gas fireplaces with a strong emphasis on heavy duty construction, architectural design and large flame views.

Bonfire has worked directly with Barbas in the Netherlands for over 20 years. Our team has extensive experience specifying the appliances, flue systems and installation requirements, allowing us to help customers choose a model that works technically as well as visually.

Why Choose Barbas?

Barbas is particularly well suited to design led projects where the fireplace or stove is intended to become part of the architecture of the room.

• Premium Dutch engineered fireplaces and stoves
• Freestanding and inset wood burning appliances
• Large front and panoramic flame views
• Heavy duty steel construction
• Wide choice of appliance sizes and proportions
• Contemporary gas fires and freestanding gas stoves
• Front facing and panoramic gas fire configurations
• Built-in fires for renovations and new build projects

The range is extensive, so model selection should account for heat output, fireplace dimensions, ventilation and the complete chimney or flue arrangement rather than appearance alone.

Barbas BOX Wood Burning Stoves

The Barbas BOX collection is the manufacturer’s main family of contemporary freestanding wood burners.

The Barbas BOX Wood 20 range offers a wide choice of widths and heights with optional bases and log storage configurations. BOX Wood 25, 35 and 40 models provide different depths, proportions, outputs and design details for more individual installations.

BOX Panorama models provide additional glass for a broader view of the flames and are particularly effective where the stove sits prominently within a modern living space.

Barbas Inset Wood Burning Fires

For a more integrated fireplace design, Barbas offers several built-in wood burning ranges.

Barbas Unilux

The Barbas Unilux range includes compact and larger inset wood fires in numerous widths, with front-facing, two-sided and three-sided options available across the collection.

Unilux is particularly useful for fireplace renovations where a clean built-in appearance and generous flame view are required without moving to the scale of Barbas’s larger architectural fires.

Barbas Evolux

The Barbas Evolux range moves towards larger architectural installations, with lift-door designs, substantial heat outputs and wide glass areas.

These fires work particularly well in larger rooms and purpose-built fireplace features where the appliance is intended to have significant visual presence.

Barbas Cuatro & Universal

Cuatro and Universal provide further built-in wood-burning options with different proportions, door systems and installation formats. The best range depends on the fireplace opening, required output and desired finished appearance.

Barbas Gas Fires & Gas Stoves

Barbas also offers an extensive collection of contemporary gas fires for customers wanting real flames with convenient control and consistent heat output.

The range includes Gas Fire Front models for a clean front-facing installation and Gas Fire Panorama appliances where a three-sided view is preferred.

The Barbas Gas Fire Smart range has a relatively shallow installation depth, making it particularly useful for renovations and fireplace designs where available depth is limited.

Freestanding BOX Gas and BOX Gas Panorama models provide an alternative for customers who prefer the appearance of a stove rather than a fully built-in fireplace.

Wood Burning or Gas Barbas Fire?

Choosing the Right Barbas Fire

With Barbas, physical dimensions and heat output are especially important because models can vary substantially in width, height and heating capability.

A compact BOX stove or Unilux inset fire may suit a standard living space, while larger BOX, Evolux and panoramic gas fires can provide considerably more output and visual scale.

The appliance should therefore be selected alongside the room, fireplace construction and flue design rather than treated as a standalone product.

Barbas Installation & Flue Design

Correct specification is critical to the performance of a premium Barbas appliance. Bonfire can provide a complete design and installation service, including:

• Home and site surveys
• Appliance and heat-output specification
• Fireplace and hearth design
• Chimney and flue assessment
• Wood-burning chimney and flue systems
• Balanced-flue design for suitable gas appliances
• HETAS or Gas Safe installation where applicable
• Testing, commissioning and aftercare

Planning the appliance and flue together is particularly important for large built-in fires, where ventilation, installation depth and surrounding construction must all be established before the fireplace is built.
