Legend Fires is a British family-run fireplace manufacturer established in 1996. Legend offers several different gas-fire formats because UK properties can have very different chimney and flue arrangements.

Legend Spirit Gas Fires

The Spirit is one of Legend’s most versatile traditional inset gas fires.

It was developed to work with Class 1, Class 2 and suitable precast flues, making it useful where fireplace depth is more restricted than with a conventional deep chimney opening.

The Spirit Superslim reduces the required inset depth further and can suit installations where a standard-depth gas fire simply will not fit.

Different trims, fascias, fuel effects and control options allow the same basic appliance to be adapted to traditional or more contemporary fireplace surrounds.

Legend Evora – High-Efficiency Gas Heating

The Evora is a glass-fronted gas fire designed to provide stronger heating efficiency than a conventional open-fronted decorative gas fire.

The current conventional-flue Evora provides approximately 3.3kW heat output with efficiency around 81%, while retaining a compact format suitable for many traditional fireplace settings.

Customers can choose from different trim finishes, coal or pebble fuel beds and manual, slide or remote-control options depending on the version.

Evora Balanced Flue – Gas Fire Without a Traditional Chimney

A conventional masonry chimney is not always necessary for a gas fire.

The Evora Balanced Flue is a room-sealed appliance designed to vent through a dedicated balanced-flue system rather than relying on a traditional chimney.

The current model provides approximately 3.6kW output and 83% efficiency.

This can make it suitable for properties where the desired fireplace position is against an external wall but there is no usable chimney. The exact position, wall construction and flue route still need to be assessed before ordering.

Legend Ethos Gas Fires

The Ethos collection moves away from the conventional 16-inch gas-fire format towards larger, more architectural fires.

Options include Ethos 400, 550 and 750 models, with portrait, super-portrait and landscape proportions available across the wider range.

The Ethos 550 provides approximately 4kW output, while larger Ethos 750 models can exceed 5kW depending on configuration.

This makes Ethos more appropriate where the fireplace itself is intended to become a substantial visual feature and where the room genuinely requires the additional heat.

Remote control, detailed log fuel beds and different interior and frame options are available across selected models.

Landscape or Portrait Gas Fire?

This decision is primarily about the proportions of the wall and fireplace.

A landscape fire suits wider chimney breasts and contemporary feature walls, particularly beneath artwork or where the fire needs to visually widen the room.

A portrait or super-portrait fire creates a taller flame presentation and can work better where wall width is restricted or a more vertical fireplace feature is preferred.

Heat output should still be checked independently because the largest-looking fire is not automatically the right heater for the room.

Legend Nero Electric Fires

The Nero range brings Legend’s British manufacturing into contemporary electric fireplaces.

Current Bonfire options include Nero 780, 1200 and 1500 models for media walls and false chimney breasts.

Selected Nero fires can be configured for one, two or three-sided viewing, allowing the appliance to work as a straightforward front-facing feature, a corner fire or a projecting panoramic installation.

Electric models require no conventional chimney or gas supply and provide approximately 1–2kW of supplementary heating, making them especially suited to highly insulated rooms where the visual fireplace is more important than high heat output.

Traditional Fireplace or Media Wall?

Legend covers two very different styles of project.

For an existing stone, marble or timber fireplace, compact gas models such as Spirit and Evora allow the original fireplace proportions to be retained.

For a new contemporary feature, Ethos gas fires or Nero electric models provide much larger flame displays and are better suited to purpose-built chimney breasts and media walls.

This means the surrounding fireplace should be considered at the same time as the appliance rather than choosing the fire first and trying to make it fit afterwards.

Legend Outdoor Fires

Legend also manufactures outdoor wood-burning fires in Lancashire.

The Garden Cube uses glass on four sides to provide a broad flame view while directing combustion gases upwards through its chimney. A tabletop Garden Cube is also available where a smaller outdoor feature is preferred.
