Dragonfly Outdoor Stoves & BBQ Cookers
Dragonfly is an outdoor-living collection from the Stovax Heating Group, combining wood-burning stove technology with dedicated outdoor heating and cooking products.
The current Bonfire range is deliberately focused. The Hestia collection provides enclosed outdoor wood fires in heating-only or heat-and-cook formats, while the Ferleon provides compact gas-powered outdoor cooking with interchangeable grill and plancha surfaces.
Bonfire is an official Dragonfly supplier and can help you choose between the different formats according to whether warmth, wood-fired cooking or simple gas barbecue convenience is most important.

Dragonfly Hestia Heat 50
The Hestia Heat 50 is essentially an outdoor wood-burning stove designed around the fireside experience rather than cooking.
Unlike an open fire pit, the fire is contained behind a large glazed door and combustion gases are taken upwards through a stainless-steel flue.
Key features include:
- Large internal fire chamber
- Expansive flame-viewing window
- Integrated log-store base
- Two wheels for easier repositioning when cold
- Stainless-steel flue
- Simple combustion-air control
The enclosed format gives the Hestia much more of the appearance and experience of an indoor stove while being designed specifically for outdoor use.
Hestia Heat & Cook Grill 50
The Heat & Cook Grill 50 adds genuine cooking functionality to the Hestia concept.
An integrated grill sits above the wood-burning firebox and can be positioned at two different depths. The shallower setting brings food closer to the heat for high-temperature grilling, while the deeper position provides greater space for larger food and slower cooking.
Removable stainless-steel side shelves provide useful preparation and serving space, while a thermometer helps monitor cooking temperature.
When cooking has finished, the Hestia can be changed back into heating mode so the full flame view and radiant warmth can be enjoyed.
How Does Hestia Change Between Heat & Cook Mode?
The Heat & Cook model uses an adjustable internal baffle system.
In cooking mode, the baffle redirects more heat upwards towards the grill. This also helps shield the person cooking from excessive direct radiant heat through the front glass.
In heating mode, the baffle is repositioned so more of the fire’s warmth can radiate forwards through the glazed door.
This makes Hestia a genuine dual-purpose appliance rather than simply a stove with a cooking grate added on top.
Hestia Heat 50 or Heat & Cook?
Choose the Heat 50 if your priority is outdoor warmth, visible flames and extending the time you can comfortably spend on the patio.
Choose the Heat & Cook Grill 50 if you want the same fireside experience but would also use the appliance for grilling, roasting and outdoor entertaining.
The Heat & Cook is physically larger because of its cooking lid and side shelves, so available patio space should also be considered.
Dragonfly Ferleon Gas BBQ Cooker
The Ferleon takes a completely different approach.
Instead of burning wood, it is a compact cast-iron gas patio cooker designed for quick, controllable outdoor cooking without lighting a solid-fuel fire.
Bonfire currently offers Ferleon configurations including:
- Single burner with grill
- Single burner with plancha
- Double burner with grill and plancha
- Double burner with two plancha plates
Additional cooking plates and a hob ring can also expand the ways the cooker is used.
Grill or Plancha?
The grill plate provides the more familiar barbecue experience, allowing direct heat and traditional grilling marks on food.
A plancha provides a flatter cooking surface. This makes it useful for smaller or more delicate ingredients that might otherwise fall through a conventional grill, including vegetables, seafood and breakfast-style foods.
The interchangeable format means the cooker can be adapted to the type of meal rather than permanently committing to one cooking surface.
Why Cast Iron for the Ferleon?
The Ferleon uses cast iron because it absorbs and distributes heat effectively across the cooking surface.
Its relatively compact dimensions also make it useful where a full-size freestanding gas barbecue would occupy too much patio or outdoor-kitchen space.
Single and double cooker formats allow capacity to be increased according to how many people you normally cook for.
Wood or Gas for Outdoor Cooking?
Choose Hestia Heat & Cook if you enjoy tending a real wood fire and want the same appliance to provide warmth once cooking is finished.
Choose Ferleon if speed, controllability and convenient gas cooking are more important.
The two products therefore serve quite different outdoor lifestyles despite both providing barbecue capability.
Moving & Positioning a Hestia
Hestia includes a two-wheeled base so it can be repositioned more easily when completely cold.
The manufacturer specifies that it should be placed on a stable, non-combustible surface with no combustible material above the appliance.
It must not be used indoors, inside a tent or moved while hot.
A waterproof cover is also recommended for additional protection when the stove is not being used.
Designed for Outdoor Social Spaces
Dragonfly products work particularly well where the outdoor area has been designed as an extension of the home rather than simply a place for an occasional barbecue.
Hestia can provide the fire and focal point around a seating area, while Ferleon can form a compact cooking station within a patio or outdoor kitchen.
Bonfire can also help coordinate Dragonfly products with wider outdoor-living projects including outdoor kitchens, log storage and garden fireplaces.
