The Bonfire Fireplace Collection

Established in 2003, Bonfire has spent more than 20 years designing, supplying and installing fireplaces, stoves and fires. Alongside products from established manufacturers, we offer our own collection of fireplace surrounds, electric fireplace suites and specialist products selected or developed around the requirements we encounter on real installations.

The result is not one single style of fireplace. The collection ranges from traditionally handcrafted Bath Stone surrounds to contemporary flat-wall electric fireplace suites, allowing the surrounding fireplace to be specified around the room and chosen fire rather than the other way around.

What Is in the Bonfire Collection?

Bonfire Bath Stone Fireplaces

Natural Bath Stone is particularly suited to traditional British architecture. Its warm colour and relatively fine grain work well in cottages, Georgian and Victorian homes, country properties and more restrained contemporary interiors.

Current Bonfire designs include:

Unlike manufactured composite stone, natural Bath Stone contains genuine variation in tone and character. This should be viewed as part of the material rather than a defect.

Bolection Fireplaces

The Bolection is particularly versatile because its design relies on proportion and moulding rather than heavy decorative carving.

That allows it to work in both traditional and contemporary interiors and makes it relatively easy to combine with different fire types.

A Bolection can be used around a wood-burning stove, suitable gas fire or electric installation when the hearth, slips, chamber and required clearances are specified correctly for the chosen appliance.

Bonfire can also help determine the appropriate fireplace width and opening size rather than relying only on a standard mantel measurement.

Bonfire Electric Fireplace Suites

A major part of the current own-brand collection is our range of complete electric fireplace suites.

These are designed to create a substantial fireplace feature without requiring a conventional chimney or flue. Many are suitable for fitting against a flat wall, making them useful for modern houses, extensions, bedrooms and properties where an original fireplace has been removed.

Choose the Fireplace Before the Electric Fire — or Vice Versa

One advantage of the Bonfire electric-suite collection is that selected designs offer multi-brand fire compatibility.

This allows the fireplace and electric fire to be chosen as two separate elements rather than being permanently tied to one manufacturer’s flame technology.

For example, you may prefer the proportions and stonework of a particular Bonfire suite but want the flame effect from another specialist electric-fire manufacturer.

The opening size, rebate and fire dimensions must still be checked together before ordering.

Traditional 16-Inch or Wide Landscape Electric Fire?

The correct suite depends heavily on the proportions of the fire.

Compact designs are suitable for conventional inset electric fires and give the appearance of a traditional fireplace.

Wider suites such as the Edmonton and Stratford are designed around larger landscape fires, creating a broader contemporary focal point without necessarily constructing a full-height media wall.

This can be a good middle ground where you want a substantial modern electric fireplace but do not want the television and fire incorporated into the same feature wall.

Marble, Limestone & Quartz Details

Selected Bonfire electric suites can be configured with different decorative inlays and finishes.

Options across the collection include natural marble, limestone and quartz-effect detailing, allowing the fireplace to be coordinated with flooring, furniture and surrounding interior finishes.

Natural stone will contain variation in colour and veining, so customers planning a high-specification interior may benefit from viewing samples at our Berkshire showroom before finalising the fireplace.

A Complete Fireplace, Not Just a Surround

One of the main advantages of buying through Bonfire is that the visible surround does not need to be considered in isolation.

This is particularly useful where standard components do not naturally fit together or where the dimensions of an existing chimney breast dictate the finished fireplace.

Bespoke Hearths & Cut-to-Size Fireplace Components

Bonfire also specialises in made-to-measure fireplace components.

Our fireplace projects regularly require bespoke hearths and slips in materials including slate, granite, limestone and marble. These can be produced to suit the fireplace opening, stove position and surrounding floor rather than relying solely on predetermined standard sizes.

For solid-fuel installations, the material and construction must also be appropriate for the temperatures and thermal movement involved.

Reclaimed Fireplace Products

The collection also includes selected reclaimed fireplace components, such as traditional clay firebacks.

Reclaimed products naturally vary in colour, wear, dimensions and surface character. That variation is part of their appeal and can make them particularly appropriate for heritage properties and fireplace restoration projects where a new component would look too uniform.

The main difference between the Bonfire range and a conventional single-product manufacturer is that our products sit within a wider fireplace-design service.

We can consider the surround, fire, hearth, chimney, clearances and finished room together before components are ordered.

For more involved projects, our design and installation service includes home surveys, technical specification, chimney and flue work, fireplace preparation, fitting, commissioning and aftercare.

What products are included in the Bonfire own-brand range?

The current collection includes Bath Stone fireplace surrounds, complete electric fireplace suites, selected reclaimed fireplace products and other fireplace components.

Do Bonfire electric fireplace suites need a chimney?

No. Electric-fire suites do not require a conventional chimney or flue, and many current Bonfire designs are suitable for installation against a flat wall.

Can I use another manufacturer’s electric fire in a Bonfire suite?

Selected Bonfire suites are designed to accommodate compatible fires from different manufacturers. The fire dimensions, opening and fireplace rebate must be checked before ordering.

Can Bonfire fireplaces be made to measure?

Bespoke and made-to-measure options are available for selected fireplace projects, including custom hearths, slips and other stone components. Speak to our team with your required dimensions.

Can I see fireplace materials before ordering?

Yes. Our showroom near Reading, Berkshire has fireplace displays and material samples that allow you to compare proportions, natural stone and finishes before ordering.

Can Bonfire install the complete fireplace?

Yes. Bonfire provides an in-house design and installation service covering suitable fireplaces, stoves, fires, hearths, chimney systems and associated finishing work.
