Purevision Stoves by Charlton & Jenrick

Purevision is the premium solid-fuel stove collection from British manufacturer Charlton & Jenrick, designed around large areas of glass, efficient combustion and a particularly clear view of the flames.

Bonfire has over 20 years’ experience working with Charlton & Jenrick products. Our current Purevision collection includes freestanding and inset multi-fuel stoves, standard and wide 5kW models, a high-output 8.5kW stove, the panoramic BPVR Cylinder and LPV three-sided wood burners.

The result is a range where you can choose the shape and flame view separately from the heat output rather than simply buying a larger stove because you want greater visual presence.

Which Purevision Stove Suits Your Fireplace?

Purevision BPV5 – The Core 5kW Stove

The BPV5 is the starting point for much of the Purevision range. It provides a nominal output of approximately 5kW, efficiency up to around 82% and multi-fuel capability for wood and suitable smokeless fuels.

A large front window creates the wide flame picture Purevision is known for, while top and rear flue connections provide flexibility during installation.

The standard BPV5 has an operating range of approximately 3.1–6kW, making it relevant to many typical UK living rooms when correctly sized.

BPV5 Slimline – When Fireplace Depth Is Limited

The BPV5 Slimline retains the broad appearance and 5kW nominal output of the standard model but uses a shallower body.

This can make a significant difference where an existing fireplace chamber has limited depth or where you want the stove to project less prominently into the room.

Choosing a Slimline model therefore solves a physical installation problem rather than simply providing another styling option.

Purevision Wide Stoves

The BPV5W Wide provides one of the most useful combinations in the range: a broad stove body and larger flame window while remaining at approximately 5kW nominal output.

This is ideal for a wide fireplace or inglenook where a conventional 5kW stove can look undersized but an 8kW appliance would produce unnecessary heat.

Wide versions are available in standard, Slimline and Countryman formats, allowing the body depth and styling to be adapted without losing the broader proportions.

Countryman & Classic Purevision Stoves

Purevision is not limited to contemporary styling.

The Countryman versions retain Purevision combustion technology and large glass areas while introducing more traditional detailing and alternative stands. They can therefore work particularly well in cottages, renovated period properties and more classical fireplace settings.

The Classic range provides another interpretation of Purevision’s wide 5kW format for customers wanting greater decorative character than the standard BPV body.

Purevision BPVR Cylinder

The BPVR Cylinder is one of the most distinctive Purevision models.

Its curved ceramic glass provides up to approximately 180 degrees of flame visibility, creating a much broader viewing angle than a conventional flat-fronted stove.

The BPVR has a nominal output of 5kW, an operating range of approximately 3.2–6.8kW and efficiency up to around 87%. It is also multi-fuel capable.

Different presentation options include high and low pedestals, a log-store base and wall mounting. This makes BPVR particularly effective in open-plan rooms and contemporary interiors where the stove itself is intended to become a feature.

Purevision Linear – Three-Sided Wood Burning

The LPV Linear collection takes a completely different approach to the conventional BPV models.

Glass on three sides allows the fire to remain visible from multiple positions within the room, while the appliance is dedicated to wood burning rather than multi-fuel use.

The LPV5 provides approximately 5kW nominal output and is particularly suitable where panoramic flame visibility is wanted without excessive heat.

The larger LPV8 provides approximately 8kW and is intended for rooms with a genuinely greater heating requirement.

Both can be personalised using options such as a log store, leg stand, pedestal or wall-mounting bracket.

Purevision Inset Stoves

The BPV5i and BPV5iW provide inset alternatives to Purevision’s freestanding stoves.

An inset stove sits within the fireplace opening rather than projecting into the room, creating a cleaner integrated finish. The BPV5i provides standard proportions, while the BPV5iW uses a wider firebox and flame view.

Inset installations should be specified around the opening dimensions, hearth and chimney before fireplace alterations begin.

Purevision Combustion Technology

Purevision uses several Charlton & Jenrick technologies specifically aimed at combustion and flame visibility.

• Patented tertiary air profiling introduces additional combustion air for cleaner burning.
• Active Baffle technology assists with faster start-up, refuelling and combustion control.
• Airwash directs preheated air across the glass to help maintain the flame view.
• Convector construction on selected models helps control heat transfer from the stove body.

Current Purevision appliances are Ecodesign compliant and clearSkies certified, with DEFRA-exempt models available for burning specified fuels in Smoke Control Areas. Model-level approval should still be checked before ordering.

Which Output Do I Need?

Most of the Purevision range centres around 5kW, but BPV8 and LPV8 models provide substantially more heat.

A larger fireplace opening does not automatically require the higher-output model. A BPV5W or LPV5 can provide greater visual scale while retaining a sensible output for many homes.

Who makes Purevision stoves?

Purevision is manufactured by British fireplace and stove company Charlton & Jenrick.

What is the difference between BPV5 and BPV5W?

Both are around 5kW, but BPV5W has a wider body and larger flame view. This makes it useful for broad fireplace openings without requiring the higher output of an 8kW stove.

What is the difference between standard and Slimline Purevision stoves?

Slimline versions reduce the depth of the appliance while retaining similar frontal proportions and nominal output, helping with shallower fireplace installations.

Is the Purevision BPVR multi-fuel?

Yes. The BPVR Cylinder is a 5kW multi-fuel stove and can burn wood or suitable smokeless fuel in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Are Purevision Linear stoves multi-fuel?
