The Bolection 50″ Arabescato Marble Fireplace Surround – Honed is a refined natural marble mantel combining a clean architectural bolection profile with the distinctive movement and contrast of Italian Arabescato marble.
The surround is designed with a simple projecting moulded profile that frames the fireplace opening without excessive ornamentation. This makes it particularly effective with a highly figured stone such as Arabescato, allowing the marble itself to provide most of the visual character.
Arabescato marble is quarried in Tuscany, Italy and is known for its light background with naturally occurring grey veining. Depending on the quarry and individual block, the veining can vary from softer rounded movement to stronger, more linear patterns.
For these surrounds, material is generally selected with a rounded vein pattern, although substantial natural variation should still be expected. This means every fireplace is individual, with differences in veining, tone and movement forming part of the natural character of the stone.
This version has a honed finish, creating a smooth, matt surface rather than a reflective polished appearance. The honed finish softens the overall look of the marble while still allowing the natural veining to remain prominent, making it particularly versatile across both traditional and contemporary interiors.
According to the FDC technical drawing, the standard surround has an overall shelf dimension of approximately 1280mm x 115mm / 50½″ x 4½″ and an overall height of 1095mm / 43″. The mantel opening measures approximately 910mm x 910mm / 36″ x 36″.
The surround has a 145mm / 5¾″ leg depth and a 30mm rebate, providing useful depth when coordinating the mantel with a compatible chamber, slip set, fireplace insert or fire installation.
Natural inclusions and areas of brecciation may occur within Arabescato marble. Where appropriate during manufacture, these can be stopped, filled and finished to coordinate with the surrounding honed surface. These characteristics are inherent to natural marble and contribute to the individuality of each surround.
Because the stone can vary considerably, photographs of individual surrounds can be requested before ordering, allowing customers to see the actual veining and overall character of the available marble.
With its restrained profile, honed surface and expressive Tuscan marble, the Bolection Arabescato Marble Fireplace Surround is an excellent choice for interiors where natural stone is intended to be the principal decorative feature.

Expert Insight
Arabescato works particularly well with a simple bolection profile because the restrained shape does not compete with the natural movement of the marble. The honed finish further softens the appearance, giving the surround a sophisticated matt surface while preserving the contrast and individuality of the veining.

The Bolection 50″ Arabescato Marble Fireplace Surround – Honed is well suited to luxury living rooms, period homes, townhouses, contemporary interiors and design-led fireplace installations where a refined but highly individual natural marble focal point is required.
