The 1m Length Schiedel ICS Twin Wall Flue is a premium insulated chimney section designed for use with open and closed stoves, open fires, and residential or small commercial multi-fuel appliances. With continuous operating temperatures of up to 450°C and short firing temperatures of up to 550°C, it provides a robust, high-performance solution for creating safe and efficient chimney systems where a traditional masonry chimney is unavailable or unsuitable.
The Schiedel ICS system uses a straightforward push-fit jointing system, with each connection secured by a locking band. This makes assembly quicker and more controlled while helping maintain the rigidity of the completed flue. Generous lead-in edges on both the liner and outer case also make sections easier to align and connect during installation.
Its advanced corrosion-resistant construction combines a laser-welded 316L stainless steel inner liner with a 304 stainless steel outer case. The ICS range is noted as the only stainless steel chimney system to have passed the internationally recognised GASTEC corrosion test, providing additional reassurance where long-term durability and resistance to corrosive flue conditions are important.
A key design feature is the system’s sleeve joint, which allows insulation to remain continuous along the length of the pipe. This reduces the possibility of hot spots and helps keep external case temperatures lower. The joint also incorporates a capillary break, which helps prevent moisture being drawn through the connection, while the jointing arrangement supports effective drainage of condensate within the flue.
The pipe is insulated using a 25mm high-efficiency Superwool blanket. This insulation helps maintain flue gas temperature, supporting stronger draught during startup, improved appliance efficiency and reduced condensation. Keeping the flue gases warmer is particularly important in exposed twin wall chimney runs, where heat loss can otherwise affect performance.
The assembly method also allows the inner liner to expand and contract with temperature at the female end of the joint. This helps the chimney cope with repeated heating and cooling cycles and allows the system to withstand the temperatures associated with a soot fire without compromising the integrity of the joints.

Expert Insight
The most important advantage of a high-quality twin wall system is not simply the stainless steel construction, but how well it retains heat and manages movement, moisture and condensate through every joint. The continuous insulation and sleeve-joint design of the Schiedel ICS system help support more consistent flue performance while reducing cold spots within the chimney run.
Suitability
The 1m Length Schiedel ICS Twin Wall Flue is well suited to wood burning stoves, multi-fuel stoves, open fires, and residential or small commercial chimney installations requiring a durable insulated stainless steel flue system.
Installation / Technical Notes
This is a 1 metre insulated chimney section from the Schiedel ICS range. It uses a push-fit connection secured by a locking band. The inner liner is laser-welded 316L stainless steel, while the outer case is 304 stainless steel. Insulation is provided by a 25mm high-efficiency Superwool blanket. The system is suitable for continuous operating temperatures up to 450°C and short firing temperatures up to 550°C. The joint includes a capillary break, allows condensate to drain correctly, and permits the inner liner to expand and contract with temperature. Available internal diameters should be selected to suit the appliance and complete chimney specification.
