The MI-Fire Solway Small 4.1kW Multi Fuel Stove is a compact British-designed stove created for customers who want multi-fuel flexibility, practical everyday heat and a more modest footprint for smaller rooms or fireplace openings. With its 4.1kW output, Ecodesign 2022 compliance and Smoke Control Area Exempt status, it is a strong option for spaces where a full-size stove may be more than is needed.
Designed in the UK, the Solway Small combines a high-grade steel body with a durable cast iron door, giving it a practical, robust construction that balances lighter modern stove engineering with the traditional visual reassurance of cast iron at the front. This makes it an appealing choice for customers who want a stove that feels dependable and classic without being overly heavy or oversized.
As a multifuel stove, the Solway Small offers the flexibility to burn both wood logs and approved smokeless mineral fuel. It achieves 75.4% efficiency when burning wood logs and 79.2% efficiency when burning approved smokeless mineral fuel, making it a useful choice for homes where fuel preference may vary. The ability to use smokeless fuel can be particularly valuable in areas where that option is preferred for convenience or cleaner controlled burning.
The stove also features independent primary and secondary air controls, designed to be easy to use and highly controllable. This gives the user better day-to-day control over combustion and allows the stove to be managed more precisely depending on the fuel type and desired burn characteristics. An outside air option comes as standard, which is another practical advantage, especially for more modern homes or installations where external combustion air may be beneficial.
With a 4.1kW heat output, the Solway Small is particularly well suited to smaller living areas, snug rooms and more compact fireplace settings where a lower-output stove is the more appropriate fit. Installation flexibility is supported by both top and rear flue outlet positions, while clearance and hearth requirements are clearly defined for planning purposes. It is not suitable for a 12mm hearth, which should be factored into installation design.
