Both options will complement your slate, giving that truly ‘finished’ look. Your quoted price will be ‘all inclusive’, which means there is no extra charge for either of these edgework options.

T-shaped fireplace hearths should be two hearths because otherwise they can crack. Due to the weight of a free standing log burner or gas fire this can cause pressure and strain on the hearth. Furthermore, the joins can be used for potential heat expansion. We would always recommend two hearths as opposed to one large slab.

A T-piece hearth can be structurally weaker, especially along the narrow connecting section, which may crack over time from heat expansion or weight. Two separate pieces provide better stability, are easier to handle during installation, cheaper and avoid that weak point entirely.

The hearth serves as a non-combustible surface in front of and around the fireplace opening. It protects your flooring and surrounding area from sparks, heat, and embers, while also enhancing the overall look of your fireplace.

Popular materials include natural stone like slate, granite and marble, as well as brick and concrete. Each offers different aesthetics, durability, and heat resistance.

Yes! Hearths can be tailored in size, shape, and material to complement your fireplace and room decor perfectly. Custom designs can range from simple and modern to ornate and traditional.

Maintenance depends on the material, but generally involves regular dusting, wiping with a damp cloth, and avoiding harsh chemicals. Stone hearths may benefit from occasional sealing to protect against stains and wear.
